I had the pleasure of taking baby pictures today as two of my sisters-in-law just had new additions to their families. Laiba Mansoor Syed was born to parents Mansoor Syed and Asi Ahsan-Syed this past Sunday morning. Coming in at a little over eight pounds, she drools, she yawns, and she even opens her eyes. And that’s enough – enough to win hearts over, enough to fill a room with “awww’s” and “oooh’s”, and enough to put a smile on everyone’s face.
I never liked the studio type baby portraits shown in magazines and ads – the ones with a baby gift wrapped in a basket sitting in the middle of an empty room with a black background. I wanted and have always liked “lifestyle” type of photography. People being people in their natural surroundings. I took these shots of Laiba with her rolling around in the middle of a bed being a baby. No strobes, no fancy setups, no studio space – just a window and a cute baby were all I wanted to work with.
