Mona is one of Mahroo’s good friends and a long time dedicated S2S fans. She’s been one of our earliest supporters, so when she told us she was getting married and wanted us to shoot the wedding, Mahroo and I were beyond excited. Her wedding was a two day mehndi and shadi combo. The mehndi was at the RTP Sheraton and the shadi was at the Durham Marriot – one of our favorite reception locations.
Here are a few of our favorite moments and portraits:
[ After the entrances, the Mehndi consisted of a few ceremonial rituals - feeding of the sweets and donning of the bridal flowers. After this, the men were asked to exit as the rest of the program was privately for women only. This night was my favorite from the weekend as it was one of the more challenging events I've had to shoot in a while - the whole place was pretty much candle lit for atmosphere and required a lot more effort in focusing and exposing. ]
[ The next morning, there was a small religious ceremony at the mosque where family and friends gathered to witness the verbal and written agreement of the marriage. ]
[ The shadi took place later in the evening. It had been raining this weekend and the weather really picked up right before the reception. Luckily, the rain stopped for a little bit and we were able to capture a few frames outside before it started again. There were some great moments at this event... ]
